Constituents laud DCE for his achievements
Constituents of the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District have lauded their District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Kenneth Sarpong for his tremendous achievement across the entire district. According to some residents, the DCE has lived up to their expectations for the short period that he has been at the helm of affairs, covering a period of one year four months.
These views were made known when Mr Sarpong toured some communities to inspect some of the ongoing projects in the district and to get himself abreast with first hand information.
The inspection tour first took him to Jukwa, where he inspected the construction of a befitting new market structure to replace the old structure which has been pulled down.
Speaking to the media, Mr Sarpong intimated that the old Jukwa market had outlived its usefulness, a situation that compelled the market women to abandon it.
“The entire town gets busy during market days but unfortunately all the trading activities are done on the shoulders of the road,” explained Mr Sarpong.
He added that trading on the shoulders of the road is a dangerous practice for which reason the Assembly, under his watch, decided to build a new market for the town.
“We don’t want any unfortunate incident to befall us so we are building this new market so that they have a more decent place to do their business”, he added.
Some of the market women who spoke to The Chronicle expressed delight at the construction of the new market and thanked the DCE for his vision.
Madam Abena Agyeiwaa, a trader, stated that the District’s development has been affected by frequent changes of DCEs and, therefore, called for Mr Sarpong to be retained.
“We all campaigned and voted massively for President Nana Addo, so the elders of our party must listen to us so that they don’t change the DCE,”she said.
The main structure of the new Jukwa market would comprise a two storey-building that would consist of twenty-four lockable stalls at the first floor and twenty-four at the second floor.
Additionally, forty opened stalls are being constructed to provide enough space that could accommodate all the market women.
After the Jukwa market’s inspection, Mr Sarpong moved to Mfoum, where he inspected an ongoing road construction, the Mfuom to Gyankobo road.
He then inspected the construction of a market at Wawaase and proceeded to Hemang, where he inspected the construction of a dining hall for the Hemang SHS/Tech.
The DCE was accompanied by the district engineer and other staffs of the Assembly, as well as some constituency party executives.
Mr Sarpong has also spear-headed the completion of all other projects started by the previous administration as well as those initiated by his predecessor.
His affable nature has endeared him to the hearts of many of the constituents while his strong working relationship with all his party executives has been hailed.
Dr Osei Adu, who spoke to the media, categorically stated that the constituency executives were highly impressed and satisfied with the leadership qualities of Mr Sarpong.
“We would like to call on the president to maintain as the Chief Executive because the district is witnessing massive infrastructural development under him,”he added.
Mr Sarpong was nominated to the position of the District Chief Executive just about one year four months ago.
Under his reign, the NPP performed creditably well during the last presidential and parliamentary elections held in December last year.
